My junior and senior
year of high school, my orchestra director Dr. Mary Lou Jones, allowed me to become a cadet teacher. I
worked off and on with the freshman class and helped my teacher with the daily duties of the orchestra.
I learned many tricks to
being an orchestra teacher and I conducted a couple concerts with the freshman and a couple with the full orchestra. It
was a great opportunity. My orchestra teachers over the years have impacted my conducting style.
Dr. Mark Laycock at Wichita
State University has impacted me a great deal during my time there. I started conducting the
Hutchinson Regional Youth Symphony in 2007. I have worked with Bruce Boyd of Hutchinson High School
during this time as well.
